Well, the short (and truthful) answer is anyone who wants their fitness plan to succeed.
There may have been a time in the past when the only people we knew to have their own Personal Trainer were celebrities and sports stars. Thankfully that’s definitely now not the case. Enlisting someone who can concentrate on, and support you with, your fitness goals is pretty much accessible to everyone, thanks to an increased number of dedicated people entering the industry and the relative affordability of the services available.
And it’s not only the accessibility and cost of having a professional 1-2-1 trainer which has improved, the general approach to personal training has too.
Personal Trainers are no longer the strict taskmasters they perhaps were before. I think everyone can recall having seen the kind of ‘drill sergeant’ trainers of old, who had a one-size-fits-all regime which they doled out to everyone, regardless of their starting point or personal objectives! There was almost an expectation that they would be unapologetic, border-line rude and focus only on the end goal of achieving Olympic-standard fitness!
That’s not something we see too much nowadays. Certainly not at Neil King Personal Training! People who enlist my services want to work collaboratively with a professional, not be shouted at or made to feel inadequate. Yes, they want to improve their general fitness levels, their physical and mental well-being – maybe even their body shape or muscle tone – but not at the cost of their sanity.
When approached in the right way, a fitness plan put together by an experienced Personal Trainer should not only be achievable but should also be fun. Exercise releases endorphins - the feel good hormones that give us the warm and fuzzy feeling we all love. Finding the right mix of activities to give us this lift in spirit (as well as a noticeable improvement in health) is a real art, and one in which the best trainers out there are specialists.
And it’s not just a case of handing over a plan and leaving the client to get on with it. Throughout the programme the Personal Trainer will provide feedback, offer motivation and encouragement, advise on general health and nutrition and be on hand for moral support whenever it’s needed.
So, back to the question of who has a Personal Trainer…
It’s people who really want to improve one, some, or maybe even all, of the following: -
They could be from any walk of life, the common factor amongst them all is that they take their health seriously and are determined to reach their fitness goal.
